A R Rahman and Sukhwinder Singh to open Academy Awards Night…
It was really big news of Slumdog Millionaire’s securing 10 nominations for the Oscars. And the news of A R Rahman’s receiving 3 nominations for the Academy Awards further sent the chill through the body. Now the latest happy cum proud news is that A R Rahman and the singer Sukhwinder Singh have been invited by the Oscars’ authorities to open the awards’ night.
Both will open the 81st Annual Academy Awards night scheduled for February 21st at Los Angeles where they will be singing their super hit song ‘Jai Ho’.
An insider told, “Rahman had called up Sukhwinder, telling him that the authorities of the Academy Awards had asked him to open the ceremony. Rahman asked Sukhwinder to prepare himself for another live performance. Nothing new in that, except, this time, it would be for the Oscars! Gulzar, who has written the song, is likely to make an appearance on the awards night too.”
He further added, ““Rahman will work on the song and modify it to set it in sync with the live orchestra and make it suitable for a stage presentation. Rahman and Sukhwinder are looking forward to it. Sukhwinder is of the opinion that the Slumdog nominations have raised India’s bar in the international market and hence, they would now have to be extra cautious about the quality of work they deliver.”
The excited Sukhwinder shared the views, ““I’m waiting for an official confirmation, till then I cannot comment on it.”
Well, wait to see Rahman and Sukwinder performing at Oscars’ night.
