The ban on smoking lifted…
In 2005, the ministry of health had imposed ban on smoking in films and in response to that, many filmmakers opposed it and even challenged the ruling in the Delhi High Court. Now it’s a sigh of relief for the makers of the films that the Delhi High Court has now lifted the ban on smoking in films.
Mahesh Bhatt had also filed te case against this ban in 2005 amongst other filmmakers but the court refused simply. But now the court has given the decision in their favor. On the lifting of ban on smoking by the court, Mahesh Bhatt excitedly told the media, “court showed faith in us people and cinema makers have been given the freedom of expression”.
Mahesh Bhatt also informed the misnitry of health that they will not be showing unnecessary puffing in films rather they will only be using smoking scenes where it is required.
Many other renowned filmmakers had supported Bhatt like Deepak Tijori, Kunal Kohli and Rohan Sippy. Now they all look happy after the court’s decision in their favor.
