billubarber1 thumb Music Review: Billu Barber The music of ‘Billu Barber’ is out now. A Shah Rukh Khan’s production under his banner, ‘Red Chilles Entertainment’, the movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta along with the stunningly ravishing beauties Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone (as guest stars for specially arranged item numbers). To doll up the music, Pritam Chakraborty has done really hard to avoid any kind of loopholes. The range of music and lyrics used in the tracks goes from Western styles to Punjabi Bhangra to rap to Sufi classical and north Indian. He has infused everything to impress the listener. And it all is worth to be noticed. But whether the whole album is what a listener has been waiting for? To get the answer, let’s check it out…

1): Marjaani (Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan)
The soundtrack opens with an utter dance number, ‘Marjaani’ featuring Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan to croon the lines. Both deliver their prowess with aplomb and raise the blood level in veins hugely. Lyrics penned by the legendary lyricist Gulzar are treat to go with. The track is a kind of Punjabi song with Punjabi and Hindi lyrics infused together. The composition is so electrifying that once the number starts playing, your feet begin tapping. The visuals of the song have been on the channels for last many days featuring Shah Rukh Khan and the ravishing Kareena Kapoor shaking the legs. It is a well-choreographed number that makes you press the repeat button time and again.
Rating: 8.5/10

2): Marjaani (Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan) – Electro House Remix
This remix blasts you with pleasures like the original.
Rating: 8/10

3): Marjaani (KK and Akruti Kakkar) – Kilogram’s Balkan Mix
This remix number injects same pleasures like the earlier.
Rating: 8/10

4): Love Mera Hit Hit (Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar)
Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar team up to render the track, ‘Love Mera Hit Hit’. A rap kind of energetic song, it endows you with classic voices of the singers. Wrapped with Punjabi lyrics, it is a fun a track all the way. The lyrics hold values and the music is energetic. Choreographed on Shah Rukh Khan and sultry Deepika Padukone, the visuals are a treat to watch.
Rating: 8/10

5): Love Mera Hit Hit (Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar) – Remix
The remix version is spongy but the original appears great to the ears.
Rating: 3.5/10

6): Love Mera Hit Hit (Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar) – House Mix
DJ Amyth arranges the remix of this number. Yes, he does well with the arrangements. Nonetheless, the song lacks in oomph factor like the original has…!
Rating: 3/10

7): You Get Me Rocking and Reeling (Neeraj Shridhar)
Next comes is ‘You Get Me Rocking and Reeling’ having Neeraj Shridhar to warble the poetry. He does the things with utter conviction. It’s a hip-hop number with Western tunes and even English lyrics. The composition is average, which makes the overall result as ‘average’ spoiling the good singing by Neeraj. Just listen it once.
Rating: 3/10

8): You Get Me Rocking and Reeling (Neeraj Shridhar) – Remix
The remix version arranged by DJ Suketu is mundane.
Rating: 1.5/10

9): You Get Me Rocking and Reeling (Neeraj Shridhar and Dominique) – Video Edit
Sung by Neeraj and Dominique, the remix is somewhat better than the earlier one.
Rating: 3.5/10

10): Ae Aa O (Rana Mazumder and Suraj)
Laced with the use of guitar and high beats along with grand music and English lyrics, the song seems extremely inspired from the tracks of ‘Rock On’. Loud noises can be found everywhere in the number just to attract a bunch of youngsters in parties. The singers seem not to be in real form. Music is just about okay.
Rating: 2.5/10

11): Ae Aa O (Rana Mazumder and Suraj) – Remix
The composer has even not tried to make the remix working. So avoid it at once.
Rating: 1/10

12): Jaaon Kahan (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan)
The classical singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan emerges with ‘Jaaon Kahan’, which is a slow sad number with less number of musical instruments and sounds. Rahat as usual attracts hugely by his rendition. Whenever this world-renowned Pakistani singer sings on Bollywood front, he loots the hearts and the songs become hits. The lyrics and music both gel well with the mood of the track. This song has also the potential to become a hit amongst the music buffs as Rahat’s songs do always…!
Rating: 8.5/10

13): Billo Bhayankar (Ajay Jhingaran, Raghuveer and Kalpana)
Follws next is ‘Billoo Bhayankar’ featuring Ajay Jhingaran, Raghuveer and Kalpana to croon the song. They do well with the renditions. A desi north Indian kind of a song, it is sweet to listen and reminds of some of the beautiful compositions made in the past. The theme of the track is to praise billo in a way to bring fun out of the situation. Lyrics and music register impacts.
Rating: 7.5/10

14): Khudaya Khair (Soham Chakrabarthy, Akruti Kakkar and Monali)
This one is sung by Soham Chakrabarthy, Akruti Kakkar and Monali, who display singing good but nonetheless seem weak. This romantic number is further spoiled by the composition. The only grace to save the number is lyrics, which are worthy. The visuals are on air these days featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra.
Rating: 2.5/10

15): Khudaya Khair (Abhijeet)
Abhijeet winds up the album with another version of ‘Khudaya Khair’. Singing is brilliant but the composition is mundane. The lyrics are superb.
Rating: 3.5/10

Conclusion:
On the whole, the soundtrack of ‘Billu Barber’ is average. But the numbers like ‘Marjaani’, ‘Love Mera Hit Hit’ and ‘Jaaon Kahan’ have definitely potential to top the charts.

Overall Rating: 5/10
