Khanna & Iyer is in the theatres because of its star cast, that has the names like Sarvar Ahuja and Aditi Sharma, winners of Zee Cine Stars Ki Khoj. The movie is made under the banner of Mukta Arts (Subhash Ghai) and is a low budget entertainer for the whole family.
The crux of the story revolves around two families, one is a Punjabi family and the other is South Indian. Aryan Khanna (Sarvar Ahuja) belongs to the Punjab clan whereas Nandini Iyer (Aditi Sharma) is from Southern part of India. Due to conflicting cultural values and beliefs of their families, the couple runs away from home.
While on the run, a series of unforeseen circumstances unfold and unknown to them a CD containing proof of relationship between a known politician and infamous terrorist Donga lands up in their Bag. Chased by their parents, cops and terrorists in the jungle of Lal dora. This leads to a masala entertainer for the crowd.
Then the story unfolds as how the couple manage to overcome the villainy eyes. The young couple undergoes a reality check and manage to come out as survivors in the end.
Hemant Hegde is a technician but he leaves the second part of the film handicapped as there is virtually nothing worth the word ‘entertaining’ in the second hour of the film. Sarwar Ahuja does very well. He has the trappings of a fine actor and given the right roles, the youngster has the ability to go far. Aditi Sharma is equally confident and comes across as a bundle of talent. It’s a perfect performance! Manoj Pahwa is a live wire and in terrific form.Cinematography should have been better.
Music of the film is composed by Tabun Sutradhar, who has previously worked with the same banner in Jogger’s Park. The album boasts of tracks that are packed with traditional Punjabi and South Indian musical flavors.
The director is of South Indian origin and includes a natural flavour of South India in the movie. The movie is not publicized well and may not catch up due to lack of publicity.
A healthy pair which truly manages to create some ripples in this age old story. The movie is a cool entertainer and cracks up in the secnd half.
