Mumbai, March 23, 2007: In what was an evening to remember, SONY BMG & UTV Motion Pictures launched the music of the film, ‘Life In A Metro’. It was a star-studded affair with the cast & the crew of the film, including Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja & Kangana Ranaut present at the music launch. Also present were Shridhar Subramaniam, Managing Director, SONY BMG, Ronnie Screwvala, CEO – UTV and Anurag Basu, Director of the film. ‘Band Metro’ – comprising of Pritam, James, Soham, Suheil and Niladri – enthralled the audience with their live performance of the songs from Metro OST.
“Life In A Metro” has perhaps the most unique soundtrack Bollywood has come across – both in terms of content and treatment. Director Anurag Basu has created a melting pot of musical talent -which has been christened ‘Band Metro’, a superb ensemble featuring Pritam Chakraborty, performer Soham Chakraborty, singers Suhail and James, and Eric Pillai, the mixing guru. ‘Band Metro’ brings to life the mood and pulse of the film. The tone of this film is personal reflections and realisations, and thus the story will be told in voiceovers at times and ‘Band Metro’ singing at all emotional junctures. Life In A Metro features stories that run parallel, set in the backdrop of a Metropolitan – hence the name of the film. Yet the graph of this film is singular, and the songs keep touching the· emotional chord. Music Director, Pritam, said on the occasion, “The soundtrack of Metro is unique in terms of its range and its depth. ‘Band Metro’ promises magic in the soundtrack. Like fine wine, the music of Metro is a treat, promising to leave a memorable and lasting impression on film buffs and music lovers alike.”
Director, Anurag Basu added, “Apart from a strong storyline, the music of Life In A Metro is a USP of the film. The songs not only form an integral part of the script, they in fact drive the story forward. I think this is novel and am sure will be enjoyed by the audience.
“Metro” is certain to be a winner, with fine cast, great music, and Shilpa to give it the international boost.
