The Bollywood actor of international repute and the actor of his remarkable class, who when appears on screen the souls get caught in the magic of his acting, Om Puri who has worked hugely in Bollywood and enticed the world audience while working in many Hollywood films – will now be sharing the screen with the biggies of Hollywood from Tom Hanks to Julia Roberts. He has signed a Hollywood flick titled ‘Charlie Wilson’s War’ where he will enact the role of the late President of Pakistan General Zia Ul Haq.
Good Time Charlie Productions LLC is the production team behind this project. Mike Nichols will direct this film. Om Puri has just returned from Los Angeles after reading the script and doing rehearsals and finalizing the costumes for the film. The shooting will commence in Morocco from next month and in the USA in December this year.
On playing this character Om Puri says, “’I was in Los Angeles for two weeks as part of the pre-production work before the film goes on floor. I am researching a lot on the character I play. I remembered Zia having a gold tooth and confirmed it with Shatrughan Sinha and his wife Punam who were very close to the Pakistani General. Similarly, I also got to know that the chain Gen. Zia wore on his sherwani had a decorative pocket watch’.’
