Ekta Kapoor’s latest offering ‘Kayamath’ will be taking over the coveted 21:00 slot when Shah Rukh Khan’s stint on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ comes to a seasonal end.
The much publicised and written about series, which saw Shah Rukh Khan debut as host of STAR Plus’ flagship gameshow will be ending on Thursday 19th April at 21:00.
Shah Rukh Khan is contracted to 52 episodes per series for the next three years. The ratings for the current series have averaged around the 7 TVR mark according to TAM.
Ekta Kapoor’s new drama ‘Kayamath’ will be slotted in the 21:00 slot from the following Monday (23rd April). ‘Kayamath’ is a story about changing relationships and of everlasting Love.
The protagonist of the show, the cute Assamese beauty Panchi Bora, who was earlier seen in the MTV show ‘Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi’ throws light on her character in ‘Kayamath’, “I play Praachi, a sensitive and reserved girl, who is extremely dependant on her father, Inder (Mohnish Behl). I belong to a middle class family and have my limited aspirations before I start discovering that I am gradually falling for my best friend Neev.”
Adds Jay Bhanushali, “Our families share a great rapport and I am a happy-go-lucky guy who doesn’t understand what love means.” Jay, who was spotted in the rediff ad by the production house further says, “It was my smile that worked for me. Ekta Kapoor personally told me that I have a cute smile. Now, I make sure that I flash it everytime I meet her.”
Actress Prachi Shah (who also stars in Kesar on STAR Plus), plays Panchi’s mom in ‘Kayamath’ says, “I am very happy doing mature roles in both of my serials. What I really find amusing is the protagonist’s name which sounds as if I am calling myself. But I’m thankful to Ekta for considering me for her new show and I am enjoying every bit of it.”
Smriti Irani’s ‘Karam Apna Apna’ which was relegated to the 18:00 slot when ‘KBC’ launched will be returning to primetime. The change takes place on the day when ‘Kayamath’ launches.
