5. Minnisha Lamba
Prior to 2008 this petite beauty was lesser known. However, by the end of 2008 Minnisha Lamba’s name is on the lips of every one. She was the best looking beauty, and probably the best actress, in Bachna Ae Haseeno and then she decided to take her clothes of and show us her hidden gem of a body. When Kidnap came out it was Minnisha that everyone was talking about and not the lead star Imran Khan. We expect bigger things from her in years to come.
4. Bipasha Basu
This Bengal beauty may not have had a major hit of her own accord in 2008 but her good-on-screen-looking performances in Race, Goal and Bachna Ae Haseeno were more than enough to give the accolade of the 4th best Bollywood actress of 2008. Bipasha Basu hardly ever makes the numero uno slot of any chart but she sure does well year-in year-out. We love her!
3. Aishwarya Rai
With two highly promoted flick released in 2008, Jodhaa Akbar and Sarkar Raj, one would have put money on this former Miss World from being crowned as the best of 2008 but that was not to be. Some even say that the inclusion of Aishwarya Rai in those two films was why the both didn’t do as well as expected. 2009 is also going to be a very Ash-dominated year but will the audience go out to see her films or not… that remains to be seen.
2. Katrina Kaif
Last year she was unbeatable and had 4 super-hit flicks in a row, but this year the lass from Blighty lost her crown. It was not because she performed badly, Katrina Kaif was without a doubt the only good thing in massive flop Yuvvraaj and looked every inch a sex-bomb in Race, but because of a certain Miss Chopra. 2009 she might just win her crown back.
1. Priyank Chopra
A ton of movie releases in 2008 from the leggy beauty, with most of them becoming flops. But, it was her takes in dramatic flick Fashion and then the comedy hit Dostana that cemented her place as the best actress of 2008. Priyanka Chopra has finally managed to become THE girl to beat. Will she keep her place at the top for 2009… well that doesn’t look likely… time will tell.

I totally agree with your list Tony. Umair, Kareena though a good actress did not have a hit in 2009- tashan was a huge flop and as for Deepika whose flick was Bachna Aee Hasino her total incapacity to act was even more apparent in the presence of Minisha and Ranbir.
does it means that priyanka could win best filmfare actress awards for 2008?
I think Priyanka should win the filmfare best actress for this year, her performance in FASHION is outstanding. Actually her most impressive performance after Aithraz. I can nominate two others for the award , Aishwarya for Jodha Akbar and Kajol for U Me Aur Hum.
