The mammoth film house UTV Motion Pictures churns out ‘Dev D’ under its new banner UTV Spot Boy. Anurag Kashyup has been roped in to direct this venture that stars Abhay Deol, Kalki and Mahi Gill.
Storyline:
The movie is a modern take of obsessive love saga, which was seen in the blockbuster ‘Devdas’. The difference between the two flicks (Devdas and Dev D) is that ‘Devdas’ talks about a man who opts for self destruction when he gets failed in achieving his love and then he abides by the social rules and find himself unable to claim his love towards a married woman. But in ‘Dev D’, the leading man has no restrictions and he follows all the new rules and regulations set-up by the current generation.
The original ‘Devdas’ was based on the novel penned by Sharat Chandra and made by many renowned filmmakers like P.C. Barua and Bimol Roy and the remake was then made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But in ‘Dev D’, Anurag Kashyup portrays his view differently played by the characters on the screen. And the changed perception of the story is then revealed on the celluloid in ‘Dev D’.
‘Dev D’ utters that Devdas was a hypocrite and appeared as a weak man, who could not stand for his love and beliefs. In Anurag’s ‘Dev D’, the stereotype image of Devdas is broken. The characters in the new version of ‘Devdas’ are called ‘Dev D’. And they will be more believable and in sync with the practices followed by current generation.
Today, the time has changed hugely making the money as ATM card and turning the post into e-mails. Telecommunications has advanced a lot and helped people’s life become so fast.
