Director Milan Luthria goes overboard when he shows cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle putting together a cricket World Cup final match from previous match tapes. The film lays its base in the first half and when you are ready for some acceleration and twists in the second half…it disappoints.
Nana Patekar delivers a splendid performance. Danny’s scenes with Nana are worth appreciating. Danny Dengzongpa’s role that of a former cricketer is fabulous. Paresh is cool as always. Kunal and Rimi too deliver fine performances though Rimi goes a bit over board. Rimii Sen is sensual with her sexy ardent looks.
Milan Luthria’s direction is satisfactory, but it’s the writing that acts as a spoke in the wheel. Pritam’s music is average considering his previous works. No song will stay on your lips once you are off the theatre except for ‘Shout India’, just because it is aesthetically shot. Cinematography is not good enough.
Hattrick will find it difficult to sustain the heat of World Cup at the box office as people have seen better products on the similar theme such as Iqbal, Lagaan and the expectations will be sky high.
The outcome of the film depends on the word of mouth and if that happens then it will certain take a few wickets, if not a Hattrick.
