Music Review: Raaz – The Mystery Continues
Music Critic: Goher Iqbal Punn
Producer: Vishesh Films (Mukesh Bhatt)
Director: Mohit Suri
Cast: Emraan Haashmi and Kangana Ranauat
Music: Raju Singh, Toshi, Pranay and Gaurav Das
Label: Sony BMG
The music of Vishesh Films’ upcoming flick, ‘Raaz – The Mystery Continues’ is out now. Starring Bhatt’s hot favourite hero Emraan Hashmi and the gorgeous beauty Kangana Ranauat in the main leads, the film is a supernatural thriller. Directed by Mohit Suri, who has earlier directed five films with Bhatts, the album has been released by Sony BMG. For the lyrical job, Bhatts have roped in to Sayyed Quadri (who is mostly behind every music scene of Bhatts’ projects). The music conscious people take four musicians to score the music for the soundtrack. Raju Singh, Toshi, Pranay and Gaurav Das are the composers who doll up the composition. But the question now is that whether they have done the job, which can impress the music buffs? Lets check it out and find the answer…
1): Mahi Ve (Toshi)
Toshi opens up the album with the song, ‘Mahi Ve’. Yes, he sings it well and the lyrics hold values too. The track is the fusion of western and Indian type composition. The ultimate theme of the number is pain in love. The music is apt by Toshi. Go for it.
Rating: 7/10
2): Mahi Ve (Toshi) – Remix
The remix version attracts the ears and provides comforts.
Rating: 6.5/10
3): Soniyo (Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal)
Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal team up to render the love duet. The vocals glide on the souls. The lyrics by Sayyed appeal but are not wonderful. The composition has been arranged by Raju Singh and is average. Yes, you may hear it for once only.
Rating: 3.5/10
4): Bandaa Re (Krishna)
Next comes is ‘Bandaa Re’ that is a prayer type of number. It has good feeling attached to it. Laced with both Sufi music and Indian classical, the lyrics very fittingly appear to impress you. The music too attracts you.
Rating: 7/10
5): Kaisa Ye Raaz Hai (KK)
The brilliant singer KK emerges on the scene with ‘Kaisa Yeh Raaz Hai’. He simply loots the hearts. The slow paced track has average lyrics and the vocalist is further letdown by the composer Pranay M. Rijia. The whole outcome now becomes below average due to bad lyrics and composition.
Rating: 2.5/10
6): O Jaana (KK)
KK again fastens the belts to croon another song, ‘O Jaana’. Well, the luminous singer once again proves his mettle. But why the lyricist Sayyed Quadri and the composer Raju Singh do not want to make the track a hit or a chartbuster?
Rating: 2.5/10
7): O Jaana (KK) – Remix
The remix version is no different from the original. So avoid it.
Rating: 2/10
Conclusion:
Overall, the album of ‘Raaz – The Mystery Continues’ is average in total. Since Vishesh Films’ music always has some chartbuster and is loved by the music buffs, with ‘Raaz – The Mystery Continues’ you cannot see any chartbuster or music to rave about…
