A couple of weeks back Amitabh Bachchan had signed a Rituparno’s English film. The film is tentatively titled The Last Lear. It is said that the film is a tribute to Utpal Dutt as the film is based on his play ‘Aajker Shahjahan’.
According to producer Arindam Choudhuri, when Amitabh heard that the film is based on Utpal Dutt’s Bengali play, he immediately agreed to work on this film. In The Last Lear, Amitabh Bachchan will play the character of King Lear, an old but passionate, fading Shakespearean actor.
Interestingly, Amitabh began his career as an actor with Utpal Dutt in Saat Hindustani.
