Television’s funnyman Sajid Khan’s directorial film, tentatively titled Hey Baby, for producer friend Sajid Nadiadwala has been slowly gathering momentum, but it’s all been very hush-hush. We manage to get Sajid Khan, who has directed one of the stories of Darna Zaroori Hai, to speak on the film, television shows and more…
“It will be a costly affair”
Hey Baby isn’t the normal sort of Hindi cinema. It will have some great animations, and special effects and that’s where we will be spending most our money. But gladly, Sajid is a very understanding producer. I will be going to Los Angeles in a week to finalise the special effects company. We also plan to fly some experts down to teach a one-year old baby acting! Now, this baby is going to have an important role in the film – he is a sort of a strong supporting character, I would say.
“It’s not Baby’s Day Out”
Just because there is a baby in the film, doesn’t really mean that we are ripping off Baby’s Day Out or Three Men and a Baby. Of course, making a remake of that film is a good idea in the Indian context (laughs). But our film will be interesting and novel. I mean, I am making what I as a viewer would want to watch. That’s why I took over a year to write the script and the screenplay along with my team. I can say that it is purely original.
“I have learnt a lot from Farah”
I have definitely learnt a lot from Farah (Khan). But equally, I would say, I have learnt on job too.
“Television shows will not stop”
Television gives me a sort of a breather. I can do television shows any time. Even with Super Sale (on Star One), I used to complete my shows so fast that we had made a bank of episodes. Most of the time I write my own dialogues and script and that makes things all the more easier.
