The man laced with talents to hit the viewers’ hearts Vinay Pathak is once again ready to entice his fans with ‘Oh My God’. With the luminously intelligent actors like Vinay Pathak, Saurabh Shukla and Divya Dutta, one expects a flick with huge interest level but fails to find any interesting element in the film. It literally makes the viewer scream and think, “Oh My God”, is an example of stupid audacity by the makers, who have created such an insufferable work.
Directed by Saurabh Shrivastav – the first time director, the movie is a big flop and boring comedy. The film revolves around the theme that God does listen to our prayers and helps us out as well, only we are unaware. The movie talks about Rajendra (Vinay Pathak) who is a simple man and a salesman by profession. He is a dreamer. His dreams are sky-high. Being a Dhiru Bhai Ambani fan, he is very ambitious. He wants to get so much in life but all this through legal and ethical ways. His wife Suman (Divya Dutta) is a devout lady, who is always there to stand by his side, lending support. Every time he tries something, his attempts fail. Seeing his helplessness, Suman prays to God (played in human form by Sourabh Shukla), to help his husband. Now God takes the form of a lottery seller, a shady criminal and a mental hospital doctor.
The flaws are so many in the film, as the comedy scenes do not match to the film’s theme. Since the talented lot of Vinay Pathak, Saurabh Shukla, Divya Dutta, Harsh Chhaya, Gaurav Gera and Pubali Sanyal is there, one does not find any big performance in the film except Vinay who registers good impacts.
The direction is poor. The cinematography is okay. Music is mundane. In a nutshell, ‘Oh My God’ is a big failure…a poor comedy.
