Katrina’s New Year’s Eve dance in cancelled but Bipasha’s groove goes ahead
As expected, many New Year’s Eve celebrations are being cancelled because of last week’s Mumbai attacks, the latest being the party at J W Marriott in Juhu where beauty Katrina Kaif would have performed.
“Mumbai residents, as like the rest of Indians, are in no mood to celebrate and paying hefty amounts to celebrities is not cost-effective. Therefore, Katrina is going to be free on New Year’s Eve,” said a source.
Khushnooma Kapadia, Country Director, Marketing & Communications — Marriott Group of Hotels says, “In the wake of the recent events, as a mark of solidarity and support, we have decided to call off the New Year celebrations at the J W Marriott Mumbai and the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Centre. “
Katrina Kaif adds, “After discussing with the authorities and the international Marriott office I think they have decided to call off the show in the interest of safety. I think in the light of the current situation there are more important matters to be concerned with; so no, I don’t mind.”
In related news, the Bipasha Basu headlined gig at Sahara Star is to go ahead. Nandan Jha, PRO of Sahara Star, says, “There is no news from the management as yet. At present, we are going ahead with the New Year function with Bipasha Basu.”
