Music Review: Ghajini
Music Critic: Goher Iqbal Punn
Producer: Allu Arvind and Madhu Varma
Director: A.R. Murugadoss
Cast: Aamir Khan, Asin and Jiah Khan
Music: A R Rahman
Aamir Khan’s Ghajini’s music is out now. Produced by Allu Arvind and Madhu Varma, it is directed by A.R. Murugadoss and stars the great actor Aamir Khan along with Asin and Jiah Khan in the leads. For decorating the tunes, the maestro’s efforts have been roped in. Yes A R Rahman is behind the music scene. Prason Joshi has been hired to write the lyrics. The music has been released by the gigantic T-Series.
1): Guzarish (Javed Ali, Sonu Nigam, Kavita Baliga and Mandolins)
The soundtrack opens with ‘Guzarish’ sung by Javed Ali who is the main singer of this song. He sings with brilliance. Sonu Nigam, Kavita and Mandloins are the guest vocalist but do full justice to the track. The lyrics by Prason are fabulous. The music by the genius is a treat to listen to.
Rating: 9/10
2): Aye Bachu (Suzanne)
The wonderfully and masterly played the guitar seems spongy to the ears. Full marks to Rahman for using this piece of guitar for the pleasures of the listener. Suzanne appears classy as the vocalist. The lyrics are superb. So is the music.
Rating: 9/10
3): Kaise Mujhe (Benny Dayal and Shreya Ghoshal)
The duo of Banny and Shreya teams up to warble the next number on the album. ‘Kaise Mujhe’ appeals to the ears due to the saccharine vocals of the singers, the gorgeous lyrics and the aptly done composition. Go for it.
Rating: 8/10
4): Behka (Karthik)
‘Behka’ lets you feel that the song is like south Indian music. Karthik sings it with ease. The lyrics are great and the music attracts too. Not a classy track like the earlier but holds values.
Rating: 7/10
5): Latoo (Shreya Ghoshal)
Shreya sings again for this album. This time around it is ‘Latoo’, which she trills. Yes, she displays her histrionics fully. The lyrics and the music gel well to the mood of the song.
Rating: 7.5/10
6): Kaise Mujhe (Shreya Ghoshal)
Shreya comes now for the third number. But not even for a single minute, the listener gets bored with this gorgeous singer with silken voice. She has potential that she depicts well and it is shown in this number as well. Prason Joshi impress with the pen and Rahman with the musical instruments.
Rating: 8/10
7): Kaise Mujhe (Instrumental)
The instrumental version is arranged wonderfully that you love to be with.
Rating: 7/10
Conclusion:
Overall, after ‘Yuvvraaj’, it is the best work by A R Rahman. ‘Ghajini’ is a magnum opus. Go and buy a copy.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
