Movie Review: Sorry Bhai
Film Critic: Goher Iqbal Punn
Producer: Vashu Bhagnani and Onir
Director: Onir
Cast: Boman Irani, Shabana Aazmi, Sharman Joshi, Chitangda Singh and Sanjay Suri
Onir is back on track with his latest offering, ‘Sorry Bhai’ featuring the likes of Boman Irani, Shabana Azmi, Sharman Joshi and Sanjay Suri. The film is supposed to be a romantic comedy but it does not appear the same on the celluloid disappointing the audiences.
The film talks about a shy scientist Siddharth Mathur (Sharman Joshi) who visits Mauritius for his brother’s (Sanjay Suri aka Harsh) engagement. Their mom (Shabana Azmi) does not seem to be interested in this wedding and to attend it as the son is going to marry the girl against her wishes. However, Harsh makes Siddharth swear on their mom requesting him to bring everyone along.
Harsh is all the time busy with his works and his fiancée Aliyah (Chitangda Singh) takes the opportunity to attend his family and make them comfortable in the country. She takes them around for a guided tour and is helped by Siddharth in her effort. Both Aliyah and Siddharth spend much time together and this takes them to feel attracted to each other. What follows next… (you know better).
The script is very poor. In addition to the mundane script, it is the direction that also has nothing attractive to get the viewers. Onir disappoints a lot. The cinematography is great. The music is not up to the mark.
Boman Irani plays the father of Siddharth and Harsh. Onir has tried the jodi of Shabana and Boman (earlier they played together as husband and wife in Honeymoon Travels) but failed because he has not handled it well on screen.
Sharman Joshi enacts well. Shabana is great to watch. Boman, the exceptional actor, does not impress at all. Sanjay Suri is okay. Chitangda Singh has to learn the acting.
On the whole, ‘Sorry Bhai’ should be avoided.
