Indian film and TV actor Ashish Choudhary’s sister and brother-in-law were amongst the many casualties. The actor had to identify the remains of his loved ones once the 59 hour siege ended.
Ashish’s sister Monica and brother-in-law had gone to The Oberoi Trident on Wednesday night for a dinner at Tiffin with some friends. Ashish was still adamant that his sister and brother-in-law would walk away unscathed, but this did not happen.
“My sister Monica and her husband have been inside the hotel along with maybe 40 other hostages. They came here for dinner last night, but now they are not answering any calls,” Ashish had told a news channel on Thursday.
On Friday, NSG neutralized the terrorists at the hotel and numerous dead bodies were brought out. Among them were Ashish’s sister and her husband.
According to reports, they were first shot in the leg and then in the head. Ashish broke down after getting the news of their death. The hospital will hand over the dead bodies to the family on Saturday.
With near to 200 people dead, we are relived to report that the Mumbai authorities have finally managed to get the situation under control. Our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones in this insane act and we applaud the effort of the rescuers.
