The gossips have now been stopped to churn out. The curiosity has shushed since the Bollywood’s most sought after film awards, ‘Filmfare’ have now been announced. Sponsored by Elder Pharmaceuticals’ leading brand ‘Fair One Fairness Cream’, the mega glittering star-studded awards function was held on Saturday, 24th February at Mumbai’s plush Yashraj Studio. Sony Entertainment TV telecasted the swanky event on 25th of February for the cine aficionados and millions of its viewers spread across the globe.

The fun, excitement, joys and the happy moments of the victorious were seen on the occasion. The evening belonged irrefutably to three flicks – Rang De Basanti ( Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s postmodern take on pre-independence revolutionaries), Omkara (Vishal Bhardwaj’s dark and hard-hitting adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello) and Lage Raho Munnabhai (Raj Kumar Hirani’s endearing look at Mahatma Gandhi through a gangster’s eyes).

Masticating his views on the colossal scintillating awards function, famous TV actor Anuj Saxena (the main sponsor of Filmfare Awards and the man behind the Elder Pharmaceuticals) says, “I think, the awards this time were truly different and magnificent. In my opinion this is the way awards should be held with style and panache. I am quite sure that the super success of this event will pull more people towards it next year”.

The Best Actor Award was won by none other than Bollywood’s charismatic suave hero Hrithik Roshan (for Dhoom 2) whereas the actress with marvelous brain Kajol bagged the Best Actress Award (for Fanna).

India’s official entry to this year’s Oscars, ‘Rang De Basanti’ (that was dropped in the final list of nominations of Oscars) pocketed the Best Movie of the Year Award. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra won the Best Director Award.

Sony Fair One Face of the Year Award went to the newborn beauty on Bollywood front, Kangana Ranaut, who is draped with intelligent acting. Anuj Saxena along with Sony TV’s Kunal Das Gupta presented this award to Kangana.
