Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s release of last week is proving to be a on a roller-coaster ride with immense appreciation among the classes and below average approval by the masses. The film has done good business in the Metros whereas, the common man as well as the younger generation is finding the theme extremely serious.
The film opened with good collections on the Mahashivratri holiday and it continued to do good business at the box office even on the weekend. But the collections have dropped thereafter.
The film was expected to do great business relying on its huge star cast, director of Vidhu Chopra’s caliber and then previous successful films from Vidhu Chopra. Bu the film has fallen flat among the youth and the masses because of its serious theme and Hollywoodish style. The film got critical acclaim from all over and has been doing good business at the multiplexes. In Mumbai alone it has earned a whooping Rs. 3.05 Crores and is a hit at metros like Mumbai and Delhi. Despite good reviews and critical appreciation, the film has failed to connect with the masses and may well remain a hit just at the multiplexes.
