From the time the bus leaves Mumbai, a man on a bike follows them all the way to Goa. This mystery man is dressed in leather and a helmet throughout, until one day he elopes with Dia Mirza.
Six stories. Twelve people. Varied emotions. That’s the apt way to describe HTPL. Let’s dissect the six couples one by one…
• Shabana Azmi – Boman Irani: They are an elderly couple; a bit out of place in this group of young honeymooners. The carefree twosome doesn’t care about people poking fun at them. The turning point in the story — Boman accidentally meeting his daughter in Goa — gives the story an interesting twist.
• Kay Kay Menon – Raima Sen: This one stands out. The pangs of jealousy or Raima’s suggestion of having their own home is a reflection of the current times. A dominating Partho tries curbing his wife’s fun-loving instincts till things get shockingly out of control in Goa!
• Amisha Patel – Karan Khanna: Pinky and Vicky, from Delhi, are poles apart. While Pinky is talkative to the hilt, Vicky is the quiet sort. Again, the twist in the tale — Karan getting attracted to Vikram Chatwal — catches you unaware. If the writer had the guts to show the attraction between two males, why didn’t she take this story to its destination?
• Sandhya Mridul – Vikram Chatwal: Fine writing elevates this story. This is a “crossover couple” with the husband being an affluent NRI from L.A., and the wife, a typical Mumbai girl. Seemingly, they’re well-matched – well, almost like girlfriends! The story between Vikram and Karan deserved some culmination.
