Filmfare Awards are the oldest and most prominent film awards given for Hindi films in India. They are given annually to honour Bollywood’s best talents and provide encouragement and incentive to the Hindi motion picture industry.
It’s time again for the Filmfare Awards, the equivalent of Hollywood’s Oscars which each year parades a Who’s Who of top Bollywood films and their legendary stars along with new and aspiring actors, actresses, and film directors.
HISTORY
The awards were first conceived in 1953. Readers of Filmfare magazine were polled to decide the winners, and over 20,000 readers spread throughout India participated in the polls; trophies were given to winners of the popular vote.
In the first awards function, held on 21st March 1954, only five awards were presented – for the best film, the best director, the best actor, the best actress, and the best music director. Do Bigha Zameen was the first movie to win the award for the best film.
The first four winners for other categories were: Bimal Roy for direction of Do Bigha Zameen, Dilip Kumar for his performance in Daag, Meena Kumari for her performance in Baiju Bawra, and Naushad for his music in Baiju Bawara.

Shall we call it filmfair or unfair awards???? The whole show was amazing with SRK hosting the entire show but they have had been sooooooooo unfair to SRK. How can Hrithik win the best actor????? SRK is the most deserving for DON and everbody else agrees with it and they know that the critics are giving way too much importance to hrithik.
Sorry hrithik but everbody knows that nothing can effect SRK and he is the winner.

I dont agree with that. I think SRK was pathetic in DON. He was just trying to copy the dialouges made famous by Amitabh Bachchan in 1978 and really messed them up.
yeh i agree with Rizwan.. DON was really bad, and bad acting.. if he won an award for that.. it would be like SRK winning an award for ‘darlin yeh hai india’, LMAO
well shahrukh wasnt pathetic in DON.. although i think that the award should be given to Amir Khan for rang de basanti..but still, i dont think that SRK acted bad in DON…it was his own style of doin the DON’s role..no one should compare the new DON-the chase begins, with its older version… the new one is sleek, stylish and a perfect entertainment for anyone:)

They should stop this Filmfare Award. They should rename SRK-KarenJohar Award. It is really monotonous and boring, not justified, just purely biased, big politics, media-cised.Horrible.Please Bollywood come back into normal.
