Finally Madhur Bhandarkar’s much-awaited ‘Fashion’ is out. The expectations with Madhur are always high. And with his latest offering, he aptly fits well with the viewers’ expectations. ‘Fashion’ is laced with all the ingredients to make a it a bumper Diwali blockbuster. The film has something that gets the audiences glued to their seats and grips them when they witness the tragic fate of the three lead characters in the film. Their descent into hell is gradual, slow, poetic, heart rending… And you sit aghast, trying to evade the agony revealed in the starkly realistic film. Get ready to watch the hidden facts happened in the world of fashion industry, where backstage dramas take place, wardrobe malfunctions and casting couch happen. Madhur brings this all and more for you. And surely this all entertains you and even shocks you to a greater extent. ‘Fashion; works big due to the sagas, which you read in the newspapers and watch on the TV as an outsider and Madhur Bhandarker brings all on the big screen.

Madhur Bhandarker, the master director of realistic fares, always makes the movies which are so close to reality. Above all, he weaves the story so brilliantly on screen that you love to stay with and want to see the film time and again. The master filmmaker does mammoth research on the subject, he plans to make a film on and that research depicts in his films. ‘Fashion’ has three stories woven into one.

First story begins with Meghna (Priyanka Chopra) and this saga shows the loss of innocence. Meghna appears doomed the moment she steps into the world of ‘Fashion’. It’s the story of the rise of an unknown small-town girl into a supermodel and the harrowing price she pays to remain at the top.

Second story is of Shonali (Kangana Ranaut). It depicts the fall of a supermodel to dust. The sequences between Priyanka and Kangana are the highlights of this tragic tale. Some scenes are wonderful such as when the ramp queen Kangana confronts and warns Priyanka in a restaurant.

Third story reveals about Janet (Mughda Godse). She portrays the life of an ambitious model who does not achieve success, but opts for a marriage of convenience.

Madhur Bhandarkar excels in direction. He narrates the story luminously and creatively on the celluloid. Full marks to him. The cinematography by Mahesh Limaye is crispy. He deserves distinction marks as he captures the fashion industry so candidly that you love to applaud every scene. The script is well-written and great. Madhur Bhandarkar, Anuradha Tiwari and Ajay Monga do this creative job. The dialogues by Niranjan Iyengar attract a lot. Nitin Chandrakant dolls up the costumes, which are much stylish. Salim-Sulaiman’s music is pleasant to listen. ‘Jalwa’ is the pick of the lot.

Amongst the characters, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut do commendable jobs. Priyanka’s emotions on her face loot your hearts. She is brilliant and a classy actress. Kangana leaves no stone unturned with her heart-hitting performance. Mughda Godse is truly the wonderful discovery of this year. With a perfect sexy figure, she will soon be a top notch Bollywood actress since she knows the art of acting. Rest of the cast too stands tall. Kitu Gidwani, Samir Soni, Raj Babbar and Harsh Chaya in a role of gay designer impress the most.

On the whole, Fashion is a classy venture with innovative subject, brilliant performances and superb direction. Don’t miss it at all…!
