Shah Rukh to highlight Diwali 2009, film with Yash Raj confirmed

If you have been getting withdrawal symptoms this Diwali of a no-show Shah Rukh Khan, then fear not… because next year you will get to see the star twice during the latter part of the year.

The hot news is that Yash Raj Films have indeed signed up King Khan, but not for a film to be directed by Yash Chopra. Apparently, Ashutosh Gowarikar’s assistant Rakesh Kapoor will don the director’s hat and make a rib-tickling no-holds-barred fun flick with the Rukhster in the lead role.

Confirming the news Rakesh said, “I cannot say anything. I just want to thank Adi (Aditya Chopra) as he called me up last week and selected my script and me as director. I am really excited as this will be the biggest and grand film to come out in 2009, touchwood”

When he was asked to reveal a little more about the film, he responded, “Shah Rukh is fixed and my friends Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are doing the music. We are starting from March after Shah Rukh comes back from the US. Adi has said that they will release this film on 2009 Diwali.”

Now put that news with Shah Rukh Khan starrer My Name Is Khan directed by Karan Johar releasing around Christmas 2009, then you (and us too) will get double dose of SRK bonanza during the latter part of next year. And that’s not all… Shah Rukh will be highlighting early 2009 also… as his own home production Billoo Barber releases then… so all in all it’s going to be a jam-packed King Khan 2009. Can’t wait!
