Bollywood brigade adorned Filmfare Awards

53rd Fair One Filmfare South Awards have been well in news for last some days. Now they have taken place and the results are out. The awards ceremony was held at Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on 9th of September. The Bollywood brigade came specially to adorn this event which was thoroughly sparkling with the abundant of stars from the South, Bollywood and other entertainment circles of India. TV hottie-smartie guy Anuj Saxena’s family business Elder Pharmaceuticals was the title sponsor for this 53rd Fairone Filmfare Awards. Earlier Elder Pharma has also sponsored Bollywood’s annual Filmfare Awards months back. Elder Pharmaceuticals is the title sponsor for Fairone Filmfare Bombay as well as Filmfare South for the next three years.

The event was attended by the ‘who is who’ of Kollywood, including A.R. Rehman, Siddarth of Rang De Basanti fame, Abaas, Shobhna, Kamal Hassan, Gouthami, Dhanush, Srikanth, Jeeva, Ramesh, directors Vasanth, Lingusamy, Khushboo and many others. Bollywood Brigrade made its presence felt in the form of ravishing Rekha, Jaya Pradha, Shilpa Shetty and Priyadarshan.

Anuj Saxena chipped in on the occasion, “It was a great evening full of glitz and glory . We are pleased to be associated with the Filmfare awards. This alliance surely has synergy – Beauty and Talent goes hand in hand. Also the audience base of the two will only help create a larger and stronger loyalty base. Together we shall compliment each other. South Indian feature films a huge market”.

The details of the awards won are scribbled down below:
Anniyan, the blockbuster film directed by Shankar, with Vikram as the hero, has bagged eight awards in the 53rd Fairone Filmfare Awards 2005 (Southern films ).
Vikram bagged the best actor award, while Shankar and producer Oscar Ravichandran won the best director and best film award for the film.
Harris Jayaraj was adjudged the best music director, Vairamuthu the best lyricist and Sabu Cyril the best art director.

Ravi Varman and Manikandan won for cinematography and Peter Hynes for best action in other categories in which Anniyan bagged the awards. Asin, who had two nominations, for Ghajini and Majja, won the best actor award for her role as the quixotic Kalpana in Ghajini. Prakashraj won his fourth Filmfare award, this time for his role in Sivakasi.

Arya and Padmapriya were adjudged the best debutant actors, for their roles in Arindum Ariyamalum and Thavamai Thavamirundu respectively.

The best comic actor in Tamil films went to Vadivelu for his role a perfect foil to Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi. The best Tamil song of the year was Ra ra from the same film.

The prestigious awards, touted by many as India’s own Oscars, saw yet another blockbuster from the south, Nuvosthanante Navodhantana walking away with more than one award.

In Kannada, Ninne Pareli won the best film, best director, best actor to Prem Kumar and Vidya Venkatesh who played the heroine.

Meera Jasmine bagged the best actor award for her role in the Malayalam film, Achuvinde Amma , while Mohanlal walked off with the best actor role for his phenomenal performance in Tanmathra.

Blessy won the best director award for Tanmathra as well. Thilagan, who has done all the characters that an actor can play in his career, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award as well as Sukumari, the Malayalam actor who has made a mark in the industry in a career spanning five decades.

Kannada director Rajaratna (Ninne Pareli) in his acceptance speech suggested that since Bangalore had a local population of 35 percent, with Andhraites, Tamils and Malayalis making up 30, 25 and 10 percent respectively, the city would love to host the Filmfare awards there as well.
