GURPREET PIA FLEMING BROUGHT ETERNAL BEAUTY ON THE RAMP WITH HER COLLECTION AT LAKME FASHION WEEK
Mumbai October 21, 2008: Gurpreet Pia Fleming’s Spring/Summer 2009 BIAN collection inspired by the “Gossip Girls” at Lakme Fashion Week had everything that was beautiful in style.
There were pretty paisley prints, some sunny candy stripes in woven silks, georgette and crepes; there was hand painting and a delightful sprinkling of embroidery that ranged from crewel stitches to beading.
The colour story was summer shades of aqua, purple, teal and green with a dash of tea, stained ivory and metallic of the retro kind. Sheer textures like lace and net, played hide and seek on the garments as they were draped and layered.
While the whites were textured and the lames were crushed, printed and layered for coats and dresses; flowers bloomed for Gurpreet’s embroidery on stylish summer covers, jodhpurs, mini and maxi dresses – all very timeless creations for the coming year.
Eye catchers were the tunic dress with gold crushed sleeves and French detailing, the gold lame creation, the floor length metallic outfit, a crinkled quilted lame silk coat and the dress in printed crepe with fine thread embroidery.
The solitary ivory doori embroidered sari glittered with sequins – was a lovely traditional offering.
Adding her first jewellery collection at the Lakme Fashion Week in stone, leather, crystal and fabric, Gurpreet’s line of garments for the coming season will be great additions in the stylish woman’s wardrobe.
