The release of the month after Mani Ratnam’s Guru got a poor start at the Box Office with below the expectation level collections on the first day of the release of Salaam-e-Ishq. The film started off with below average collections at all the places. The film then picked up the next day.
The official release day at the Indian Box Office saw a slow-starter like Salaam-e-Ishq picking up and gaining momentum with good collections for the second day at the ticket window. The film earned good response with almost 100% collections.
The magic that worked in favour of the film’s success in the second day has been attributed to the trimming of the film’s duration by 15-20 minutes sighting the length to be decisive in keeping the audience away from the film. The film was then screened at the theatres with the version.
