Little known Bollywood actress and former TV VJ Sophiya Haque has managed to bag herself a sexy part in UK’s biggest TV drama serial Coronation Street.
Sophiya was headhunted by the producers of the ITV serial after they came up with a character that would be Indian and be very sexy. Poppy, the role that Sophiya will portray, will become an integral part of the soap by playing the bargirl of the popular local pub Rovers Return.
Sophiya has had minor roles in Indian films such as The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey, Sandhya, Pehli Nazar Ka Pehla Pyaar: Love at First Sight, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, Indian and Snip! (2000)
Set in Manchester, Coronation Street is one of the longest running serials in TV history and airs 5 episodes each and every week. Sophiya joins the soap few weeks after another Bollywood starlet, the sexy Ayesha Dharkar… Ayesha is currently playing the love interest of long established character Dev Alahan.
