Here is my opinion on the LEGENDS OF INDIAN cinema.
How can people even start to compare Hrithik with Shah Rukh. It’s not fair. They’re not from the same genre in the first place. And besides I think going by Hrithiks hit list and track record, along with that of others stars of his genre, it may be too soon to consider Hrithik the next legend. Anyway he still has to prove himself outside this Dad’s shadows remember. ‘Coz with the exception of K3G (SRK starred in that one too) Hrithik hasn’t had one solo hit, leave alone Superhit. Don’t even consider Dhoom 2, ‘coz there his role was just so overpolished that anyone else could have carried it off well. As for Amir Khan, yes, agreed his superb actor. But in my opinion he is far too overrated as far as “perfection” is concerned. His had a few flops too. So he is far from perfect. Furthermore, Amir’s contribution is Indian Cinema is so limited and be it a hit it or a superhit, sometime thereafter not many people remember or even bother to talk about his movies. Yes, some may remember Lagaan for making to the Oscars but at the same time many more people remember Kuch Kuch Hota, Dil to pagal Hai, DDL and ever K3G only because of SRK. KANK has caused such debate that it would probably be remembered for years to come. In that sense I would reckon that Shah Rukh’s popularity indeed overshadows that of many of his counterparts. So going by his immense star power, extreme popularity, charm and charisma with looks to die for, he definitely deserves being regarded a legend of Indian Cinema. A legend as far as I am concerned is not just someone who can act or even dance better. It is someone with that special on and off screen charisma and charm. Someone, who by the mere mention of his name, spreads “jadoo” This is by far prevalent in the HANDSOME TRIO, Dilip Kumar, AB and SRK. Looking at it, it sure seems like history repeats itself in Bollywood. Starting with Dilip Kumar. Back in his days, he was a Superstar. A mighty great actor, well minus being great dancer, and he’s had many “rivals” if may call them that, Shammi Kapoor was one of them, a great actor and a great dancer, He may have been a superstar too, but Dilipsaab became the legend. Ditto for Big B, in his days (and his days just seem to go, by the Grace of God) he was a super-great actor and quite a cool dancer too. He too has had his fair share of rivals, namely Mithun (he was even regarded AB Junior then) and he too rocked (who can forget Jimmy) but once again he was a star and Big be the Legend. That brings us to this generation where King Khan, as his name suggests, rules. Many have come and many more still to come. Many superstars of this generation, but only one BADSHAH………and don’t just take it from me…….the volumes speak for its self. I once read on a Bollywood Website that the popularity of SRK is so phenomenal that if he merely sneezes the entire industry catches a cold. TRUE……..SO TRUE…….SRK all the way.
