For an Indian, home or abroad you keep India in your heart. For the much-acclaimed and highly rated Canadian director of Indian origin, Deepa Mehta is set to go hit the global forum with her film, Water at the Oscars. And she’s going to flaunt it Indian- style.
Deepa Mehta’s film Water has been short listed among the top five films in the Foreign Film category. The film has an Indian story though it got an entry from Canada. Deepa Mehta made news for many of her controversial films like Fire and Earth in the Indian circuit, though she continues to be rising high and steady in the global industry.
But, Deepa Mehta will not wear a gown or a lady’s dress at the Oscars. She will wear one of her Kanjeevaram sarees at the mega gala. “Now that Water is short listed for the Oscars I need to be all there for the film. What will I wear for the Oscars night? One of my beautiful silk saris, what else? The Devil wears Prada. Deepa wears kanjeevarams,” she chuckles.
Deepa Mehta, a true Indian, right? We are proud of you.
