The celebrated director of Indian origin is back in news as Hollywood stars are shining bright on this award-winning director. Mira Nair will be directing none other than Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp in her film ‘Shantaram’. The film will be co-producer by Hollywood hunks Brat Pitt and Johnny Depp himself.
The film is an adaptation of Gregory David Roberts’ novel Shantaram and will be extensively shot in Mumbai and parts in North America and Australia. Shantaram is a Warner Bros. presentation.
The film’s script is being written by Eric Roth. Earlier, the film was slated to be directed by Peter Weir. But, the project has now fallen in the lap of Mira Nair. Meanwhile, Mira Nair has been busy with her short film on AIDS awareness starring Shiney Ahuja, Raima Sen and Irrfan Khan.
