B. O. Update: Guru doing well all over
Published by  Webmaster  at 06:52:46 pm on January 20, 2007

The box office these weeks seems to be in a happy mood with Mani Ratnam’s Guru getting a good opening all across the nation. The film is the best grosser this week. The other films continuing their steady business are Yash Raj’s Dhoom 2 and Sooraj Barjatya’s Vivaah. Both the films have maintained their good run at the box office. The other new release of the week, Friendship has fallen flat at the box office. Lastly, last week’s topper Priyadarshan’s Bhagam Bhag is doing steady business this week as well.

Top 5 films at the box office this week are:

• Guru: Mani Ratnam’s latest release is getting both critical acclaim and good returns at the box office as the Gurubhai is turning to be a new found phenomenon with the Indian audiences. The film starring Ash and Abhishek is also doing well at the overseas box office. Guru in its second week has collected Rs. 7,02,881 avg/print this week with Rs. 4.4 Crores in Mumbai itself.

• Bhagam Bhag: Priyadarshan’s dark comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Govinda is doing well at the major circuits with above average response from all over as it earns Rs. 1,00,270 avg/print this week.

• Dhoom 2: Sanjay Gadhvi mega blockbuster continues to do good business at all the circuits with powerful collections this week as well. This film earned Rs. 67,067 avg/print this week.

• Friendship: The much-delayed Priyadarshan film starring Tabu and Sharbani Mukherjee failed to ring any bells at the box office with poor collections of Rs. 55,190 avg/print in the first week itself.

• Vivaah: Rajshri Films’ Vivaah is proving to be the biggest ever hit for the banner as the Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao starrer is doing well this week as well. The film remains at the top 5 films at the box office, collecting Rs. 51,425 avg/print this week.
