Chancellor Gordon Brown has commented on the ongoing Celebrity Big Brother controversy while visiting India.
“I understand that in the UK there have already been 10,000 complaints from viewers about these remarks, which people see, rightly, as offensive,” he told reporters. “I want Britain to be seen as a country of fairness and tolerance. Anything detracting from this I condemn.”
Earlier today, Keith Vaz MP raised the issue of Celebrity Big Brother during Prime Minister’s Questions. The Prime Minister did not comment directly on the programme but said he condemned racism.
