After Farhan Akhtar its Kunal Kohli to act
After filmmaker Farhan Akhtar received critical praise for his acting role in Rock On another director has decided to try his luck also.
The buzz is that a big production house has offered Kunal Kohli (director of Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Fanaa and Hum Tum) to not only direct their next film but also play the lead in the film. Though Kunal confirmed the news, he refused to reveal the name of the production house. He said, “This is not the only acting offer that I have received. In fact I have been receiving acting offers from the time I did my film magazine, Chalo Cinema. But at that time I just wanted to be a director.”
Kunal gave serious thought to acting after the success of Farhan in Rock On!!. He said, “Our visibility on reality shows are responsible for the kind of offers we are getting. Both Farhan and I have been judges on a dance reality show and I would like to believe that our fan following has increased manifold after that. How else can you justify the acting offers that Farhan and I have been inundated with?”
Though Farhan signed Rock On, Kunal has resisted the offers… so far. Warming up to the idea of acting, Kunal says, “Now I am doing another reality show, Chota Packet Bada Dhamaka and again I am being bombarded with acting offers. Also, my readers on my blog have put in umpteen requests for me to take to acting. I am quite flattered when they write that Farhan and I are the two best-looking directors among the lot. And since he has taken the plunge, why not me?”
Though Kunal is excited, he has one hitch. He added, “To be honest I have just one reservation about taking up acting. When I direct, I know exactly when and where the actors are going wrong, who will correct me when I go wrong, especially if I am asked to direct myself?”
Kunal is very clear that he “will take up only the lead role. Do you think I will settle for anything less?”
