The ace filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, whose films are very much awaited, returns with his latest offering, ‘Fashion’ that is based on the glamour world. He is the director who always comes up with some novel subject to deliver on the screen and very masterly he presents it on the celluloid, which is why his movies are simply adored and acclaimed hugely. Bhandarkar’s previous projects have been low budget. Look at ‘Chandni Bar’, ‘Satta’ and ‘Traffic Signal’; they all fall under the category of low budget ventures. ‘Page 3’ and ‘Corporate’, though not high budget movies, but carried handsome amounts to back them. Whether he gushes out with big-budgeted or a low budgeted movie, one thing is certain with him and that is SUCCESS, which is bound to come when Madhur comes behind any venture. The creative man very aptly knows the art. ‘Fashion’ is the mammoth project of Bhandarkar so far in his career financed by the biggies of the trade, UTV Motion Pictures. The budget of this outing is whopping, so Madhur faced no problems at all to use his creativity freely. Starring Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranwat in the main leads, the film album’s music has been scored by none other than the successful duo of Salim-Sulaiman. Irfan Siddique pens the lyrics. T-Series enacts the responsibility to release the soundtrack. With this project, Madhur also focuses on the music front along with the powerful storyline (for which he is widely known). Let’s check it out the album’s worth now…

1): Fashion Ka Jalwa (Sukhwinder Singh, Satya Hinduja and Robert)

The soundtrack opens with the title song, ‘Fashion Ka Jalwa’ sung by the trio of Sukhwinder Singh, Satya Hinduja and Robert. Undoubtedly a foot tapping number with Western arrangements attached to it, the track is a chartbuster material. Sukhwinder Singh injects true life in the song and Satya and Robert provide ample support as well to make it a thorough enjoyable ride. Sandeep Nath (the guest lyricist) writes the catchy lines for this number whereas Salim-Sulaiman stockpile hummable music for the joys of the listener. The visuals of this track have already been running on all the satellite channels featuring Priyanka Chopra, Kangana and other heart-arresting models. It’s a chartbuster material in every sense of the word.

Rating: 9/10

2): Fashion Ka Jalwa (Sukhwinder Singh, Satya Hinduja and Robert) – Remix Version
The remix version appears next on the album. Yes, you like to give it a complete hearing.

Rating: 8/10

3): Mar Jawan (Shruti Pathak and Salim Merchant)
A love song says welcome now…! ‘Mar Jawan’ features Shruti Pathak as the main vocalist of this number. Shruti displays saccharine pleasures while she sings. Her husky voice is a treat to hear. Salim Merchant’s back up rendition adds values to the flow of the song. The gorgeously penned lyrics by Irfan Siddique and the spongy composition by Salim-Sulaiman glide on ears smoothly. It has potential to be a chartbuster.

Rating: 8.5/10

4): Mar Jawan (Shruti Pathak and Salim Merchant) – Remix Version

This number oozes out in a remix version also to entice the listeners. Go for it.

Rating: 8/10

5): Aashiyana (Salim Merchant)
A soft rock number, ‘Aashiyana’ makes it presence felt with the vocalist Salim Merchant, which is sugary to be with…! The lyrics and the composition both gel well with the mood of the song.

Rating: 7/10

6): Aashiyana (Salim Merchant) – Remix Version

The remix version is well arranged by DJ Amyth. It’s a bonus song for the listeners. But not too much appealing.

Rating: 6/10

7): Kuchh Khaas (Mohit Chauhan and Neha Bhasin)

‘Kuchh Khaas’ follows next having Mohit Chauhan and Neha Bhasin on the singer’s seat. The number has contemporary feel attached to it. Well sung by the duo, the song has average lyrics and music. Which is why it does not go well with the listeners. So they do not like to play the repeat button to listen it again.

Rating: 3/10

8): Kuchh Khaas (Mohit Chauhan and Neha Bhasin) – Remix Version

The remix version just provides you the contemporary urban feel and does not try to be a better effort.

Rating: 2/10

9): Theme of Fashion (Salim and Sulaiman)

‘The Theme of Fashion’ re-continues the magic to beguile you in full and erases the bad feel that you got in the previous number. The sound of santoor is what you like the most. It appears as a magical treat and you love to inject the syrupy sounds in your ears.

Rating: 8/10

10): Theme of Fashion (Karsh Kale and Medeival Punditz) – Remix Version

Karsh Kale and Medeival Punditz register marvelous impact on the listeners with this remix version of ‘The Theme of Fashion’. With very creatively arranged tunes, it begins to attract you the moment it starts playing. A superb way to wind up the album.

Rating: 8/10

Conclusion:

The music of ‘Fashion’ works really big. ‘Fashion Ka Jalwa’ and ‘Mar Jawan’ are the chartbuster materials whereas ‘Theme of Fashion’ loots the hearts in totality. The album has full potential to be sold like hot cakes. Cheers to Madhur Bhandarkar and the makers.
