Is Sanjay denying his marriage to Maanyata for his daughter’s sake?
While Sanjay Dutt and his sisters are now insisting that he is not married to Maanyata, there may be more to the matter than meets the eye.
Sanjay, after having confessed to two journalists that he’s indeed married to Maanyata, is now in denial mode, saying he’d been in an inebriated state when he made those statements. (For the record, Sanjay was said to be tipsy even when he had first proposed to Rhea Pillai.)
Also, the award show Sunju and Maanyata were spotted together at was definitely not the first public event attended by the couple. About a month back, Sanjay had taken her along to a Gladrags event where he was a judge at the Mrs India contest. According to eyewitnesses, Sanjay had introduced Maanyata to Maureen Wadia and others as his wife — and no, he wasn’t drunk then.
“He seemed pretty much at ease with Maanyata at his side, and he was not trying to hide her at all. And he was very matter of fact when he told people that she was his wife,” said an onlooker on condition of anonmymity.
In fact he had been so serious about the whole thing that the recent issue of Gladgrags magazine has carried a picture of the couple calling them Mr and Mrs Sanjay Dutt!
The twist in the tale is that Sanjay’s daughter Trishala has arrived from the US and is now staying with him. So does that mean Sanju suddenly decided to deny his declaration of marriage because of Trishala’s impending arrival?
According to sources, Maanyata, who has reportedly been living in with Sanjay for some time now, has been conveniently packed off for the time being.
Sanjay’s sisters — Priya and Namrata — are said to be very irritated with him and continue to snub Maanyata.
But while they may hardly be on talking terms with even Sanjay since the whole affair blew open, whether they call a truce till their niece is around is what remains to be seen.
