When the duo of Sanjay Gadhavi, the director and the Pritam, the composer comes up with a product to offer, the listener is rest assured that there is something special and alluring in store for them since they both together have earlier given hits like ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Dhoom 2’. The year 2008 has been with Pritam as he has pocketed hit album so far from ‘Jannat’ to ‘Kismat Konnection’ to ‘Singh is Kinng’. Okay … lets check it out whether the duo of Sanjay Gadhvi and Pritam succeeds this time around…!
1): Mit Jaaye (Sandeep Vyas)
The soundtrack oozes out with a theme track, ‘Mit Jaaye’ rendered by Sandeep Vyas, who delivers the goods very aptly. Since the main musician of this film album is Pritam, but for this number the guest composers have been roped in to stockpile the tunes. Sandeep Vyas (who sings this song also) and Sanjeev Vyas (who pens the lyrics for this track too) score the music. Well, the number definitely has sparks to entice you in full.
Rating: 7.5/10
2): Mit Jayee (Sandeep Vyas) – Rock Version
The song also appears as a rock version. It attracts like the original.
Rating: 7/10
3): Hey Ya (Suzy Q)
Pritam does not want his listeners to forget the impact of ‘Touch Me Touch Me’ from the movie ‘Race’. So he tries to give the touch of this song in ‘Hey Ya’. Suzy Q renders it with much oomph. This hip-hop and catchy number will loot your hearts. Mayur Puri writes the lyrics and pleases you on the writer’s seat. Give it repeated hearings.
Rating: 8/10
4): Hey Ya (Suzy Q) – The House Mix Version
This version too glides on the ears to send chill through the bodies.
Rating: 7/10
5): Mausam (Shreya Ghoshal)
Shreya Ghoshal holds the mike to croon, ‘Mausam’. A sweet track in every sense of the word, it features the spongy voice of Ghoshal. Mayur Puri’s lyrics are magnificent to rave about. Pritam’s composition is a class in itself. A wonderful track all the way.
Rating: 7/10
6): Haan Ji (Adnan Sami)
The maestro Adnan Sami’s services have been hired to trill this song. He does his part as a singer brilliantly. What make the song fall flat are the mundane lyrics by Mayur and poorly arranged composition by Pritam. Skip it at once.
Rating: 1.5/10
7): Meri Ek Ada Shola (Sunidhi Chauhan, Akriti Kakkar and Sukhwinder Singh)
The trio of Sunidhi, Akriti and Sukhwinder team up to warble this concluding number of the album. With perfection, they doll up the singing. Mayur Puri looks average with the pen. And so does Pritam on orchestra. A bad effort to wind up the soundtrack.
Rating: 2/10
Conclusion:
The listeners’ expectations should not be so high with this album of Kidnap since the duo of Sanjay Gadhavi and Pritam could not ignite that magic which they did in ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Dhoom 2’. Although there are just two songs, which spoil the pleasures, but the fact of the matter is that no track can be called a chartbuster. The oomph factor is missing in the soundtrack. Lets wish the makers best of luck.
