How naïve is the girl from India? Only she would accept the role of the head shopping list maker. It is now quite obvious that this girl has never seen an episode of Big Brother before. If she had, then she would be aware that the person to whom the responsibility of the shopping list lies, is the one that gets bitched about the most. And today that day came. Today has been ‘lets bitch about that Indian’ day.
It was late last night, and not many people picked up on it, but the cameras did show it. A little was heard, before the Big Brother editors quickly switched the output to something other. What was it? Well it was Jackiey, who else would it be? “She got mad because I couldn’t say her name, and then tonight when I got it right she blew my brain,” she said. “She said, ‘you can call me princess if you want’. I thought, f*** off. Maybe she’s worried because the eviction is coming up.” And then came the BIG racial slur, “Can someone get THAT Indian out of here.” It wasn’t called for, and it happened behind Shilpa’s back, but it is something that the Channel 4 editors will not let you see. With Jack being the favourite to be evicted, and viewers loving Jackiey, it seems that Shilpa will be getting a lot more abuse in the days to come. All I can say is, Shilpa dear we are rooting for you, and let us help and keep THIS Indian in there.
When dawn broke, and the housemates awoke, the bitching continued from where it had been left of. This time it was Jade, Danielle and Jo, calling Shilpa a fake. They then accuse her of dominating the shopping discussion. Later we see Shilpa crying. The two-face Danielle, asks Shilpa if she’s okay. “Don’t want anyone getting upset over a shopping list,” she says, after which a sniffly Shilpa replied: “It’s not about the shopping list.” Shilpa continues to stay in a sulky mood and Cleo and Carole try to cheer her up, but she seems to have taken up residence in the loo.
Shilpa then decides to cheer herself up by dreaming of a red carpet premiere in London for her next film. Jermaine and Leo are bemused, but go along with this wild dream of hers. She also discusses her ‘illustrious’ film career. To cheer herself up even more, Shilpa decides that the shopping list requires Indian garam masala. Oh girl, why do you need garam masala, when so much garma-garmi is happening with you already?
Shilpa has admitted that she has become a toned-down version of herself in the house. Carole suggested that most of the housemates were “having to be a bit different” from their usual personalities while in the Big Brother environment. Shilpa said she was behaving differently in “only one way” – having to change her accent – then added: “I just have to be slightly more conservative because of [the cameras].”
Things seem to be going even more wilder for Shilpa. While Jo, Carole and Shilpa discuss about Dirk in the bedroom. The trio agree that Dirk exhibits all the right qualities – “Loyal and loving, truthful and faithful,” Jo recites, with Shilpa adding: “Maybe if he was younger I would have given it a shot.” Danielle strokes Shilpa’s hair – despite hours earlier saying she didn’t like her!
Towards dinner time, Shilpa is comforted in the garden after losing her tether with Jackiey. “Nobody speaks to me like that,” she vents. “Why’s she at me all the time?” Carole counsells Shilpa on the situation, urging her to “have a go back” to solve the problem. “You’ve been elegant and dignified,” she explained. “And that works where you come from, but it doesn’t work here.” Shilpa is talking about her life in India, where she rings a bell for tea in the morning, then hops in the shower while someone makes her bed. “Now I’ve got this woman screaming at me. I must be crazy to be doing this,” she says. Jermaine advises Shilpa not to confront Jackiey. “I’m not saying she is less than us, but you don’t want to bring out what is inside of her,” he says.

jackie’s lack of intelligence and a great deal ignorance shows, but to call her racist is jumping da gun. jermaine was called her white trash and shilpa found it amusing, so wat does that mean? i like shilpa purely because of her movies, otherwise to say she does not want to lose her dignity yet come on a show like big brother and sell your dignity 4 money, it hust doesnt work that way
Double standards from the public. How can Jacks comments be racist and Jermaines not? White trash is just as much a racist slur as the one Jack used…yet I don’t see the uproar there. People are taking to way to far and Shilpa doesn’t help herself..she should listen to her friends and remove herself from the situation.
