The week proved to be a complete failure at all levels for Bollywood at the ticket window. November’s release like Dhoom 2 and December’s Bhagam Bhag is still doing average to good business at some circuits. At major areas, films like Kabul Express, Baabul and I See You have failed miserable. The biggest loser was Arjun Rampal’s I See You that was declared as a no-show in its first week itself. Kabul Express has managed good business at the multiplexes and Bhagam Bhag is proving to be an above-average at some places.
The Box Office top 5 for this week:
• Bhagam Bhag: Priyadarshan’s magic was evident even in this dark comedy. The comic thriller had a poor second half that has weakened its position at the box office. The film has managed to be the best in the week as its doing good business in the North and Mumbai. The film has earned Rs. 2,81,169 avg/print this week.
• Dhoom 2: The mega blockbuster of the last year is continuing its good run at the box office as audiences are yet on over with the Sanjay Gadhvi magic. The film is a blockbuster hit at all the circuits and has earned Rs. 1,82, 378 avg/print this week.
• Kabul Express: The Kabir Khan directed film meant for the niche audience has down well with them but has lost it completely with the masses. The thought-provoking film of the Yash Raj Films is slowly slipping off the ladder from average to flop at most places. It earned Rs. 1,13,141 avg/print this week.
• I See You: Arjun Rampal’s first production was a disaster at the box office this week. The film didn’t draw the audience to the theatres and was declared as a flop in its first week. The film earned a meagre Rs. 90,439 this week.
• Baabul: B.R. Films’ last release failed to impress the audience at all the circuits. The film has been declared a flop and has earned Rs. 79,219 this week.
