Amitabh Bachchan is back from the first ever Unforgettable Tour with his entire family and the Big B spoke to CNN-IBN’s Entertainment Editor, Rajeev Masand on his experience in an interview.
Rajeev Masand: You’ve just come back from a world tour, the Unforgettable Tour. This was a series of stage shows that you performed live across the world. How was it this time versus the last time?
Amitabh Bachchan: What was attractive and different this time was the immense amount of production and money that is being put into things, to make this show look more brilliant than compared to anything else. And the reactions that we got from the people, I haven’t seen anything like that in 30 years. It is the best that I have ever seen on this show. It was nice that we were able to raise the bar, so to say, of Indian shows that go across the world.
Rajeev Masand: Was the big highlight the family coming together on the same stage?
Amitabh Bachchan: Yes obviously. We have all been so busy and in differnt parts of the world. Abhishek was shooting in Miami, Aishwarya was somewhere else, Jaya was busy with Parliament and I was shooting in various places. We weren’t together even though we all live under one roof, so it was wonderful to be now travelling together, living together, performing together for almost two months. It was really special.
Rajeev Masand: Before you left for the show, rumours had started circulating that the shows weren’t doing well, tickets weren’t being sold. There was a rumour that the Toronto show almost didn’t happen. You were even quoted as having said that you suspected sabotage by a top star.
Amitabh Bachchan: No I never mentioned any star. I merely mentioned that I had news that there was perhaps some kind of desire to sabotage it. I’d like to just keep it at that and not talk more about it. But I am very happy that we were able to challenge that and come out victorious.
