Abhishek and Aishwarya to become Amitabh and Jaya
Yes, the headline might mesmerise you a little but this is indeed true. Husband and wife duo of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are to recreate the magic of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.
Both Papa and Mama Bachchan were critically praised for their performances in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s classic, Abhimaan, and now news comes that Abhishek and Aishwarya are to star in the remake. The film will be made by Rajeev Menon and have music by A R Rahman. Production begins on it in February 2009 for a release towards the end of that year.
A source says, “Rajeev was very keen to make the film with Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. The film has the backdrop of music and both Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek are playing singers in the film. In fact, Aishwarya was so excited about the film that she immediately gave dates for the shooting. The husband-wife duo is currently working on Mani Ratnam’s film, Ravana, which is based on the Ramayana. After that, they will start shooting for Rajeev’s film. Rajeev had earlier worked with Aishwarya Rai in Kandukondain Kandukondain, which released in 2000.”
