Movie Review: Mukhbir
Film Critic: Goher Iqbal Punn

Director: Mani Shankar
Cast: Sammir Dattani, Raima Sen, Rahul Dev, Sunil Shetty and Om Puri

Mukhbir has no sparks to ignite your interests. The leading guy in the movie, on whom the story revolves around largely, does not fit well on the character. Directed by Mani Shankar, this outing is a strict poor venture, which needs not to talk about. A few sequences are there on the flow of the movie, which can soothe you otherwise the film is an utter letdown. The enterprise features Sammir Dattani, Om Puri, Rahul Dev, Sunil Shetty and Raima Sen in the lead.

The flick tells the story of a young lad (Sammir Dattani). The government intelligent agency has trained him to be an informer for them. He works under the righteous officer ( Om Puri ). He then penetrates the Naxal dens, the underworld, and eventually a terrorist network headed by a fanatic ( Rahul Dev ) who wants to blow up Mumbai.

On his journey, his life comes under danger many a times. He even converts to Islam to make headway to a terror group. And when he is all set to quit it all, he finds that he is now far too deep in the manure to rescue himself.

The big flaw is script. The film tries hard to get the viewer’s eyes fixed to the screen but fails. The flow of the movie should be simple so that everyone can maintain interest level with it. Mani Shankar makes it complicated. He does not impress as a director.

Sammir Dattani enacts the leading role but fails to generate values. He is not a true fit for this character. Raima Sen is okay. Rahul Dev is good. Sunil Shetty is okay. Om Puri goes well with the role.

On the whole, ‘Mukhbir’ is a strict waste of time. Don’t spend your money.
