Vijayata Films, ‘Chamku’ is out to let you view it. Starring Bobby Deol and Priyanka Chopra in the lead, the film is directed by Kabeer Kaushik. The biggest letdown to this enterprise is ofcourse the script that carries the age old formula of revenge.
The film revolves around a guy whose name is Chandrama Singh aka Chamku. Since it’s revenge based serious film. Wonder, why the makers went to finalize the title ‘Chamku; which seems to be funny and let the viewer think that they are going to watch a humor movie. Once the movie starts, you get to see the blood, gore, crudity and brutality in the reels, you automatically start thinking that you are watching a film of 1970s or 1980. This is another flaw of the film.
Chamku shows the journey of a male Naxalite from the interiors of Bihar tutored under a covert government program to eliminate the anti-social elements. Chamku has no alternative. He is simply and directly told by Kapoor (Irrfan Khan) that Kill them or we’ll kill you. A dramatic change emerges in his life when he starts loving Priyanka Chopra. Now he wants a normal human life (hmmm … same age old story). Also he comes face to face with his frightening past [Akhilendra Mishra].
What was behind Dharmendar’s mind that he chose to make a film on the age old formula? Weird…!
Monty Shamra’s music is okay…few tracks entice you. The cinematography is average. Action is passable.
Bobby is best. Priyanka is mundane. Ritesh Deshmukh is okay. Danny is waste. Aray Babar as a debutante is not pleasing. Rest are okay.
On the whole, Chamku is a complete letdown.
