The year that went to the banana-peel-slip hits saw the Khiladi tickling the funny bone of the audience in some of the successful comedies this year. Phir Hera Pheri brought the comic trio of Suniel, Paresh and Akshay back on the big screen. The film went on to be a super hit this year and earned a net gross of Rs. 40.29 Crores. Akshay continued to churn appreciable work in the form of Humko Deewnana Kar Gaye opposite Katrina Kaif and Jaan-e-Mann in which he played a geek in love with someone else’s girl.. Poor Akki! But then at the end of the year, the last big release was Priyadarshan’ Bhagam Bhag which starred Akshay along with comedy guru Govinda and Lara Dutta. The film is doing descent business at the theatres. His laugh riot will continue in the form of Hey Baby, Namaste London, International Hera Pheri and Welcome. So, is the stunt hero changing his course towards the light-hearted side? We’ll soon know.
I think Aamir should be number 1. these charts are refering to who made more money then actual acting. Hrtik acted well.. but the two megamovies he was in, was more about stunts and IMAGE.. bollywood sucks in that way.. the biggest movie, normally gets the best actor award. Hritik should not be winning the best ACTOR award for stunts and image.. krissh best actor? PLEASEEEE thats bs

this is seriously rediculous. me and all my mates and relatives watched Dhoom and Hrithik was brilliant but never as good as the legonds like Amir (Fanaa), Salman (jaan-e-mann) and the KIng himself SRK should have been number 1, 2 and 3… there is really no justice if people think Hrithik could ever overtake the 3 khans…
and John should have been there instead of Akshay, he wasn’t even good (PHP was just d same as Garam Masala, DHP and the rest) HDKG was flop and jann-e-mann was all Salma’s victory

His performance in Dhoom 2 + Krish was brillant. these were the best films out last year!
Krishh best movie of last year? more of a kiddy movie for the younger kids.. you want stunts and cool effects.. go watch the new spiderman when it comes out. i prefer movies where acting is relied upon, not some guy flying with a stupid mask on.. Dhoom 2 is a good film.. but not amazing.. maybe because i live in hollywood and see really good movies.. that weak story lines dont impress me. but that is my opinion
Well, for the fisrt time ever, I almost agree with your excellent choice, as compared to the tp actress category. The only thing that i would change is to place Shah Rukh at no 3, Sanjay at no 4 and Akshay at no 5. KANK and DON were in general hits, it is only the media which had huge expectations of his movies and gegraded the actor accordingly. Am no great fan of shah rukh but if it was a hollywood analysis, he would still be no 1 based on his box-office history and consistency.
Yeah, great choice not to put salman in the top 5 as frankly he gave 3 flops this year. True, he has a big fan following but he is no great actor by any means, except that his movies used to do pretty well at the box-office. Not this year and for the previous posting saying that the 3 Khans should be in the Top 3, gimme a break.
Just because your last name has a KHAN in it does not automatically have to be in the Top 3 all the time.

dharmendra should have won many awards at his time, after all he was the only thret to amitabh and his movies were fantastic.
Sunny never got his due either as an actor, as even jo bohle sonihal his acting was impressive even though the movie did not do well.

Sunny Deol for (border, ghatak, he should have got it all for gadar, like he did with ghayal)
Bobby Deol perhaps critics award for dillagi at least, although the movie did not do well it still in my eyes was a fantastic directorial debut from sunny and a well made movie.

I once liked the national awards too… as sunny deserved it for ghayal, and damini, but he should have got another for ghatak as i still feel its his best performance till date, and even Gadar he was fantastic.
Sunny is the only actor apart from nana, and ajay to get two national awards, but when they give the national award to saif for HUM TUM it really sucks and like always these awards are bought, especially since his mother is still the chair person of the censor/commitee board.
Salman khan definately should have won for tere naam but because he does not get on with the press they hound him, just because he tells them what he thinks about them and does not suck upto them like shah ruck or hrithick.
had janeman done well i think he should have been nominated for jaaneman too as well as akshay for the best supporting, but i do believe abhishek won hands down for KANK although the second half sucked.
Well Amir did bother about awards when he didn’t get it for Dil and sunny got it for ghayal he boycotted awards and that is the reason he does not attend award functions anymore, As I have the film fare awards and both sunny and amir were present when they were nominated but i think amir boycotted for no reason, as anyone in there right mind would know sunny deserved it for GHAYAL.
and because of that its like these award cermonies are making up for it and giving it to aamir for raja hindustani and also for lagaan, when i feel everyone knows sunny deserved it for ghatak and gadar.
so yes it does dissapoint me and we as an audience have a right to point fingers at these jury members who know nothing about giving awards.
I truly feel APNE starring the three deols will be a mint movie…. but will again go unoticed regarding awards/national awards etc. but I really hope it does well at the box office.

If there has to be a jury comittee that I feel will not be biased I would nominate the following 8 jury members.
1)Dilip kumar (need I say more)
2)Saira Bano (who has a good eye for detail)
3)Neetu Singh (a fantastic actress in her time)
4)Shammi Kapoor (would be a great choice)
5)Shashi Kapoor (would again be non biased)
6)Depti Naval (would give it to the deserving one)
7)Seemi Garewal (knows what she’s talking about)
8)Javed Akhtar (would be a good choice)
but a shame since awards will be around as always 90% of the time will goto non-deserving actors.
about time us fans were heard or we should boycott going to the movies altogether, as we are inteligent enough to know what is a good movie and what is a good performance.

yeh i knew that Jeegs but i also know that people in India are swept by the mass media so they will vote for who the other juries would want them to vote for anyway. everytime i flick to an idian channel all i hear is Hriti looks so cool, did you see his stunts, his style.. its funny how that over shadows his performance.. i think he is a good actor but this year he has not done anythin worth winning an award for, thats for damn sure. you shouldnt win an award if u look stlyish and cool.. thats just lame

We all choose to ignore who is the best actor of today please note sometimes you cannot help it if the big directors are only willing to work with certain actors becuse they are good friends for example Shah rukh and Karan johar. Yash raj have now started working with a few different actors otherwise it was Amitabh or shah rukh the only one actor who has not made a film with the biggest director chopra and is still considered one of the best actors is Salman Khan this guy is a trend setter but has been brushed aside by the big directors and has had to work with directors who were not known and is considered to be still in the top 3 so all you people need to wake up and realise when or if this man begins to get the right projects with the big directors he will wipe the floor with all his so called competition. When asked to do a serious role like Tere Naam he produced the goods if you have not seen this film then watch it.
