Take that! The Canadian singing sensation and Grammy award winner Nelly Furtado was supposed to sing for ace composer A. R. Rahman in his composition in Rang De Basanti album. That’s what is claimed by the music guru Rahman.

A.R. Rahman at a press conference in Mumbai revealed the news to the press. Rahman, who’s in Mumbai before Sunday’s Mega event on New Year’s Eve said that both the artists hadn’t ruled out any prospects of working together in the future. Rahman blames the change of producers and other such issues that prevented Nelly from singing for Rang De..

Nelly Furtado was herself present at the press conference where she confessed being an avid follower of the Hindi music. Back in Canada, she grew up with Canadians of Indian origin and learnt a lot from them. Nelly went on to sing Lata Mangeshkar’s Kabhi-Kabhi for the media gathering that applauded her one-liner effort.

Nelly Furtado will be performing along with A R Rahman at the Nokia’ New Year Eve’s bash at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai. Other stars performing at the concert are Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Koena Mitra, and Neha Dhupia.
