Now it can be told. The real reason why Sonam Kapoor refused debutant Vicky Singh’s Mera Jahaan with Ranbir Kapoor was because of Deepika Padukone!
Ranbir’s ladylove is also part of the cast. Obviously Sonam did not want to share screen space with Ranbir and Deepika together, especially with their excessive PDA! And moreover, the audience would look out for the chemistry between Ranbir-Deepika and not her.
Childhood pals Ranbir and Sonam had a special relationship. All was well between the two till Deepika walked into Ranbir’s life.
Says a source, “After Saawariya, Sonam was looking forward to working with Ranbir. Everything was fine till she was told that Deepika was also in Mera Jahaan. That’s when she said no.”
About the Deepika-Sonam casting Vicky maintains, “We had approached Sonam. There was a meeting with her and we told her that Ranbir Kapoor was part of the project and Deepika was under consideration. But Sonam said she did not want to do a two-heroine project at this stage of her career. It was her call. That’s fair enough.”
But the source maintains, “She cited the two-heroine reason because Deepika was the other actress. She did not even want to hear the script after hearing this!”
It is a romantic comedy, written and directed by Vicky Singh. He is the son of filmmaker Gava who was associated with Yash Chopra and Rakesh Roshan. The film is being produced by Samir Ruttonsey (son of Farooque Ruttonsey who produced films like Zubeidaa and Khuddar). Vicky and Samir have teamed up to form Cinema Paradiso to make movies. During GIFA 2006 held in Malaysia, Vicky’s directorial debut Raaste was announced with Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, John Abraham and Sikander Kher. The biker film, to be produced by Sunil Shetty’s Popcorn along with Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji, never vroomed ahead.

you guys know something that ranbir is getting jealous coz sonam is having a boyfriend and catching a hand by hand infront of ranbir wow love that type of scene and sonam is ignoring the phone calls of ranbir and i am proud of sonam.
