Zee TV will celebrate the New Year’s Eve HHITA Awards at 8 p.m. onwards. With Soaps, Comedies, Telefilms, Documentaries, Musicals, News & Current Affairs, Lifestyle-shows, you name it, it was represented in the sixth Hero Honda Indian Television Academy (HHITA) Awards 2006. This well-publicised recognition of quality on the small screen serves as a valuable benchmark for the respective category of programming in the TV industry.
As many as 65 channels were in the fray for the coveted HHITA awards this year. 2707 nominations were received from 360 TV shows, thus representing the entire spectrum of Indian television.
The stars of the television industry set the stage on fire with a wide range of thunderous performances for the live audience. Off-screen couples Varun Badola – Rageshwari & Sai – Shakti Deodhar swayed to the tunes of evergreen numbers. Other performances by Nigaar Khan and Karishma Tanna, Li’l Champs, Prachi Desai, Sweta Salve, Akashdeep, Chetan Hansraj, Rohit Roy, Gaurav Gera caught a lot of eyes.
