One of the most landmark roles for the beauty queen is set for February 23rd release. The crossover film Provoked starring Aishwarya Rai will have her dubbing both in Hindi as well as Punjabi. Provoked is based on the real-life story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a tortured wife who killed her husband.
The film will be dubbed in six languages for a varied audience and greater reach. Producer Dr J Murli Manohar says, “We aren’t just releasing the film in its original English language, we’re also dubbing the film into Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and Spanish, and possibly a seventh language, French as well. To expect Ash to dub in Tamil or Spanish is unrealistic. But she’s very enthusiastic about speaking in Punjabi for the first time.”
The film focuses on the domestic violence issue and wants to spread the message to every corner of the world, hence, its being adapted in foreign languages as well.
The film’s premiere will be tentatively held in Feb next year and will be attended by many British actors of the likes of Miranda Richardson and Robbie Coltrane and by the real Kiranjit Ahluwalia.
