Shaboo Films’ God Tussi Great Ho is out in the cinemas finally. Afzal Khan’s production is written and directed by Rumi Jaffery. Not a novel idea at all, the film borrows some ideas from a few old Hollywood and Hindi films. Rumi Jaffery has earlier dashed off the comedies but with this product, he could not raise that magic, which binds the viewers fully. The movie stars the impressive star cast from Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan to Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.

Amitabh Bachchan plays the God with his deep baritone voice being well-dressed. Salman Khan (Arun Prajapati) always blames to God whenever he loses his balance in life, loses job or his girlfriend. Sohail Khan (Rocky) is a London returned guy, who is suave, smart and easy going. He always hides his devlish intentions. His habit is that whenever he wants something, he gets it at any cost whether through fair means or fouls but mostly he gets through playing foul.

The movie tells the story of Arun (Salman Khan) who very angrily rages against God (Amitabh Bachchan) for making his life so miserable. He gets astonished when the God actually appears before him in human form. God endows Arun with His divine powers and challenges him to take on the big job. And then asks him if Arun can now do any better..!

Arun reacts to his newborn powers with childlike passion. He begins to make one hysterical yet catastrophic decision one after another. Since he was not confident at all earlier, so after getting the powers Arun becomes so much confident that her girlfriend Alia (Priyanka Chopra) gets surprised seeing the new decisive and confident Arun. In his view, he thinks he can make the whole world happy by granting them their wishes. But he gets horrified when he sees the result in unprecedented chaos. This eventually makes Arun realize that being human is good than being a God because it’s much tougher to be a God.

The sequence, when Salman throws the taveez (good luck charm) in the air and that taveez reaches the God and He then appears in human form, is the most intresting one to watch.

The first half is laced with interesting moments to enjoy but the second half is lengthy resulting in your yawns. Rumi Jaffery as a writer does not raise the spirits and looks pure mundane on his job. He has written many entertaining comedies for David Dhawan but why he failed when it came to his own direction? Weird…! The portions between Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are worth to watch. Rest of the film is a lackluster.

As a director, Rumi does not impress as well if seen technically. He should improve his skills of direction. Ashok Mehta’s cinematography is okay. Special effects attract. SAJID-Wajid’s music is flat.

Amiatbh Bachchan gel well with the role of God but Salman Khan loots the hearts with his acting. He looks younger in the film and enacts the character brilliantly. Sohail Khan does justice, Priyanka Chopra is average. Anupam Kher and Rajpal Yadev impress. Rest of the cast plays ordinary jobs.

On the whole, the film is a complete disaster. Jus passable, it should be avoided.
