Amitabh makes racist remark in latest blog entry

Veteran Indian actor and screen legend Amitabh Bachchan has started a race row by not thinking before blogging.

In one of his latest blog entries, Big B writes, “Continental Airlines took special care of us in Houston. Checking in, security, exclusive lounge, golf cart to the gate, the works. I thank the driver of the cart as I get off to enter the gate. He keeps looking at me. He is black. I wonder with some apprehension. He gets down and asks me, “You Amitabh Bachchan? I nod…”

In this day and age you don’t call people of African descent ‘black’ as it is termed as being offensive. If one takes more notice and reads the comments from this particular blog post, then you will see the following – blog reader John Linus writes: “Mr Bachchan, I need to correct you… as I correct my parents. Do Not call people of African heritage ‘black’. The appropriate word is ‘African descent’ or as we say in the US ‘African American’. You wouldn’t feel good if people referred to you as ‘He was brown’. The other bloggers will not read my response; therefore, if you educate them on the correct terms, I would be much obliged.”

Now what are your thoughts on this… has Amitabh made a mistake or could he be a little prejudiced?

  3. I’m calling bullshit. Calling an African-American “black” is perfectly acceptable in North America. John Linus can kindly STFU, since it is readily evident that he is not familiar with what is socially acceptable in American culture. Don’t believe me, just watch CNN, Fox, ABC or any other American “news” channels for just an hour.

But wait a minute, facts get in the way of idiotic sensationalism. We can’t have that. “ZOMG Amitabh Bachchan is teh rac1st!!!one!”

  5. You guys are the likes that start a controversy and make the life of a person miserable.. Dude, you guys are the sickest bas**rds I’ve ever seen.. Now AB becomes a racist, later he might become a murderer (lets say if he writes, “I killed a mosquito”)… Seriously, What’s up with all these sick journalists (like this fu**ing A$$ TONY)? Are they doing this for publicity? Or they just wanna test how stupid the readers are? I’m sorry dude, if you think we are stupid, we’ll completely abandon your webpage.. I think you guys need to be legally sued for all these harsh baseless and crappy posts..

even famous magaine like vogue describes naomi campbell as a black inspiration.
this is a publicity sunt by radiosargam.
i wont be surprised if amitabh bachchan sues them for libel.
i think you journalist should learnt eh western way of speaking, with all resect , and then publish such deragaroty remarks against such a legend.

  21. Dear Reader’s, I reside in san francisco, california. I recently was an Unforgetable Concert, in Oakland California, and I have to say this that Amitabh Bachan is a man of great humility. He might have refered to an African-American man as black, but purely his intentions were not of being a racist manner. After seeing him perform alive I have realised he is a man of great dignity and great sincerity. Not for a second i’d believe that he wud try to put another human down. He is probably so humbled that a man of african-american decent…recognises him and knows him.

  25. Indians love white supremacy and racism. You see it in every aspect of Indian culture in India and abroad. You could even start with our beloved caste system (sarcasm). Indians live for white supremacy and forever will drool and fall at the feet of whites. Hell it’s even in their religion- aka caste system, and worshiping the whiter skin or so called upper class. The love and take pride in being slaves- take for example outsourcing. Talk to any Indian and they will love it and not get through their thick skull that it is modern day slavery. I am Indian myself and have grown up with this BS ideology all around me, but have stayed immune to this self hatred and racism. While it’s a sad day in India moving backwards in time to colonialism, meanwhile the US has progressed forward, and elected its first black President. Stay in the dark ages and rot in hell if that’s what you Indians (the racist ones) want.
